lol@us

I went to Taj Residency a few days back to attend a conference on EDA tools(skip the name if you are not studying electronics)..I was pretty excited about it since the opportunity to eat free food at Taj has always been tempting :P and one of my friend who had attended the same conference in Delhi said that free goodies will be provided.. So I reached that place at 10 am so that I don't miss the breakfast :P..But when I stepped inside, half of my excitement went away when I saw the long queue of people waiting to get breakfast..I couldn't help smiling at myself, that it is not just me, who wants to have a piece of Taj..
The organizers were distributing a bag containing a jacket and t-shirt and people were just not happy with 'a bag'..they wanted more.. I could get hand on just 1 :D ..anyways the conference started and it was not all that boring which I had expected..The lunch was scheduled at 1 pm and it was 12.45 that I realized people had started leaving their seats(though the speaker had not finished) and by 12.55 people were almost rushing to the buffet! When I went to eat at 1,there seemed to be an endless queue..and I thought "WTF,these people are suppose to be elite members of electronic community all over the world"..LOL@US..I clicked on some snaps to pass time and got food at 1.30..
Then a thought came in my mind..My purpose of coming to the conference was over..I had food,I got goodies,so now why the hell should I wait and listen to 3 more seminars :D.. Though had a some what guilt feeling, I quietly left the place..But when I came to the parking lot, I again was surprised to see so many people going home after lunch..It was not just me and the guilt feeling just vanished into thin air.. I again laughed and thought this will make for a nice blog :P..
Now comes the interesting part..When I came home and checked my bag,I found a ladies purse in it..I thought its strange that these people gifted even a ladies purse..But since it was free, I thought whats the harm..I'll gift it to some one else :P.. I opened the purse and found some cash and then it struck me..I ,by mistake, took someone else's purse in hurry.. WTF.. I saw a phone number written on it and dialed the number to return the purse and guess what..the person at the receiving end could not understand Hindi nor English!! Now who could possibly not know any of these languages!!! I got to know that the lady was from Coimboitre,Tamil Nadu and after many phone calls and messages managed to get her address!!But by that time she had left for her hometown..I had to mail the purse.. :-|So I'll say over all experience at Taj was not all that great..LOL@ME..

sad but true

Well before u read my blog, I strongly recommend you go and watch 'Mumbai meri jaan'..this movie is the inspiration behind this post..and after a long time I have seen such a relevant film..as the name suggests, the movie is about Mumbai but can very well generalized to whole of India..5 stories run parallel in the movie.. it's about the blasts taking place in local trains last year and how common man got affected by it..be it a poor guy who wants to feel powerful(could be by making hoax call of a bomb to panic people) or a white collared job guy who wants to leave India and don't want to travel in local trains again,or a common man who thinks Muslims are always behind such blasts and thus making prejudices against the race,or a reporter who always used to make some story out of anything and when lost her lover got to know how it feels when a journalist ask you such a dumb question after a loss "aapko kaisa lag raha hai?".. and the last story was on a Mumbai policeman(Paresh Rawal) and the way he delivered the dialogs and conveyed message across the viewer is appreciable..
Movie beautifully depicted the media and how do they make stories and do anything to get them which make their TRP's high..'Rupali bani Rudali' was one such example shown(Rupali being the reporter who lost her fiance)..Seriously kabhi kabhi thappad maarne ka man krta hai TV channels walo ko..well cursing media will take a whole day for me to write..even we are equally responsible because after all media exploits our mentality but let me discuss this all sometime later..Also the sensitivity of a poor guy living in slums and dilemma of a middle class man whether he should go abroad or not and the prejudices we make solely on the basis of religion and how wrong can they be ,have been displayed wonderfully
I was in Bangalore when the blasts took place last month .. One thing I have understood is that this is amongst those things that we don't have control on..It can happen anywhere and you can't help it.. And neither you can run from it..you can't just sit at home and 'feel safe'..At the end of the day, local train is the most convenient way to travel,so you'll go by it..life moves on and you can just be more vigilant and hope it doesn't happen again..that's it..SAD BUT TRUE..

PS:Me and my friend were planning to see 'Phoonk', glad that we did not get the tickets and saw this instead :) ..

Monday Blues

zzzzzzzzzzzz...thats all you care about these days..Monday has become the nemesis for me.. whatever time I sleep Sunday night, getting up on Monday seems to be like the worst thing that can happen to anyone..My office timings are 9.30-6.30 pm.. this Monday, after strenuous efforts, I got up at 9.30( after putting alarms of 8, 8.30, 8.45, 9, 9.10, 9.20) and had a guilt that I am always the last one to go to office amongst my flat mates..
Then I had a glance on the right side and saw my friend Rajat(1st pic above) enjoying sound sleep..his office time is almost the same as mine but his office is nearer to our flat..oh man,I wonder why did I get up.. still then I thought, others must have already gone..Amogh's office starts at 8.30 and Suyog's at 8( don't even ask about Prasoon,he's insane, and his bed have always been vacant, irrespective of whatever time I get up(4th pic above :P)and I'll have to take permission of Prasoon before I can put his pic while sleeping :D).. Prasoon gets up at 5.30 or so and reach office by 7am.. I first used to pity him,but now I don't..that fellow gets up by 7 even on weekends.. abnormal case..rest of us are mortals..
So I went to the other room and guess what, found two log heads on the floor(2nd and 3rd pic above)..those two bastards were still sleeping..I groaned but nobody reacted..Everyday Suyog is like he'll leave home early tomorrow(by 7.30) and each day Prasoon tries to wake him up for like eternity..unfailingly,Suyog is late everyday..
Amogh purposely gets late so that he can pool an auto with some hot chick in yahoo..But most of the time he gets similar people like him who had the same dream :P..
I get late because I just love sleep so much..its the best gift from God..we can just sleep anytime anywhere and forget all the crap going around..
Rajat's statement after listening my views on sleep "zindagi mei sote hi reh gaye to kiya kya?total waste of time"..and this guy these days is like "abhi 10 hi to baje hain"..went office at 11 yesterday..I guess wherever I go, sleep follows..I have given this disease to all my friends in college..(even Sethi and Anurag have started sleeping for 8 hours!they used to be immortals sometime back).. People have often commented "koi itna kaise so sakta hai" and I have always proved them wrong..
But this Monday is just too big a hurdle for my dream sleep :( ..Just not fair to get up at 8 after two holidays..and only I and Rajat have not bunked our PS so far at our flat..that day is not far i guess :P..

PS:I still reached my office at 11 this Monday \m/ \m/ ..
Amogh is doing his internship in Yahoo,Prasoon in HAL, Rajat in Oracle, and Suyog in Intel..

Sony World-2

Sony World!!#@!%!#@!#!
In continuation to my previous post..
I was caught yesterday at Sony World for driving on the pavement and was fined 200 Rs.. either some police wala saw my post yesterday or Sony World is really Satan :-|.. will go on a hunt today to find some alternate route..I can't take it any more :(.. don't even feel like describing the whole incident.. had to plead for like 15 mins to convince the traffic police that I had Karnataka road tax papers at home(he was asking for 2600 bucks!!) and which I dint :P.. managed to bargain and finally gave him 300.. he gave back 100 seeing my innocent face :-| ..
and when I told this incident to a friend, came the reply, "aur bolo Sony World ke baare mei"...
I hope nothing happens today...

PS:13 is suppose to be my lucky no.(I was born on Friday, the thirteenth)... Sony World made it unlucky for me yesterday

another PS:another flatmate was fined 100 Rs on two occasions at Sony World itself yesterday.. and other flatmate missed his bus both times and had to come by auto..all in all, a bad day for all of us..

Sony World

Well actually it is just a normal junction in Bangalore..nothing special about it..But the day I have set foot here,it has been 'bete noire' for me..Be it 8 am,8.30,8.45,9,9.15,9.30,9.45,10 in the morning( other decimal values in between these times are also applicable, just sampled a few for simplicity :D) or 6,6.15,6.30,6.45,7,7.15,7.30,7.45,8( again sampling) in the evening, it has always created hurdles for me.. this hatred for this junction has inspired me to write this post :P..
Well the total time I drive my bike to reach office is 10 mins..and total time I rest at Sony world is 20 mins..so I take half hour to reach my office :-| .. My friend Sumeet, who sits behind me is witness to the anomaly in hypothesis of probability that the chance of me getting a green signal is 25%.. because not even once, mind you,not even once, have I seen that beautiful color which I so long to see when I reach Sony world..I assume the probability is 0 in this case..if it had not been for the deposit we gave to our landowner, I would not have hesitated to change my residence( and why did we actually chose that flat in the first place, that is a different story all together :P)..
It's not just me,Sony world has to offer so many scenes everyday.. yesterday I saw a bus driver who left the bus,sat on the footpath, and started smoking beedi..generally people do all kind of massage, stretching etc as soon as they stop here..some start calling their girlfriends..the other day, a couple were on an Activa, and suddenly at the stop, wife got off and started having a fight with her husband on some issue..and it lasted for 10 mins!! pedestrians and two wheeler owners have quarrel everyday for if you don't drive on footpath, you cant think of crossing Sony World even in half hour( and am talking about everyday and not any special occasion)..
A piece of advice to all my fellow Bitsians who'll be coming to Bangalore next semester..If you are in companies like Broadcom,TI,SAP, Accenture, Cisco,Intel,Business Objects and few more, take your house such that you don't have to pass through this junction at least!!this junction is pure evil!!I abhor it!May God give me courage to pass this indispensable junction in my journey :( ..

Hariyali Chicken

For all veggie lovers, the title has got nothing to do with food,so please carry on :).. n for the cannibals,I assure you its still spicey and worthy enough to read..Well continuing from my previous post,we started our journey on friday to 'guhantara',a cave resort,at around 9 am.. In the middle of the journey somebody suddenly asked, "are there any interns"? and unfortunately I was the only one..fir kya tha, they called me up front and started ragging( and mind it, I was never ragged in college :P)..initially they told me to do the normal proposing to a girl and stuff, acting as bus conductor etc..but I did a grave mistake by wearing a t-shirt with the caption "Life is unfair. So many girls,so little time".. One of them asked me to elaborate on that for 5 mins..then came my reply "It does not hold true for Broadcom, where there are just 4 girls out of 30 in my department..here I have so much of time, but no girl around :P "..(btw neither does it hold true for BITS :D)
Now you all must be wondering, what the hell is hariyali chicken and what the crap am I talking about :P..enough of suspense,I guess..each of us was given a colour to chose once we reached the resort..I chose green and my team's name was "Hariyali chicken"..other teams were "Blue tooth","Orange Flame" and "Pink Panther"..Had lot many games such as advertising product,Dumbsheras etc.. Later we played beach volleyball and cricket..after the lunch(which itself will need a post to describe,am skipping it for your sake) we all dropped in the swimming pool followed by rain dance in the evening..we were declared the winner because of our innovative name and enthusiasm in all games and we won most of them...on our way back,"Singh is Kingg" became the slogan of all the drunkards..whatever the song others might be singing, "Singh is Kingg" somehow managed to come in every song..I guess all sorts of permutation and combinations of rythms and tones must have been experimented with "Singh is Kingg" that day.. it was really hilarious..
The best part about the trip was that not even once I felt that I am working in a company and not a student anymore(this thought haunts me many a times)..It was so much fun interacting with managers, singing songs with them, dancing and playing..indeed it was the most memorable day in Bangalore so far..

It happens everywhere

Well I have been tempted to write this post after being flooded by mails from my team '3315' here in Broadcom today. Actually tomorrow we are celebrating tape out of a chip and thus have plans to go to a resort some distance from the main city.So the initial plan was to take a bus from here at 8.30 early morning and reach there by 10.Since then there have been infinite changes in plan regarding the bus timing, route to be taken, games to be played etc etc. Some one is cribbing about the time too early(even I am :P),some complaining about alcohol and blah blah..not to mention some groaning ki 'kal jane ka mood nahi hai'
But this reminded me of the last trip I had with my friends back in college.I was the one who had arranged for the bus that day and as the usual case,'people' were late and obb things never go as planned. But IT HAPPENS EVERYWHERE.If it doesnt happen, then its unusual and something unexpected.Actually there is no fun without small fights over petty issues, scoldings for doing things (am not sure about those who were at receiving end that day :P)not expected to be done :D(been there, done that ;))..If you are told to get ready by 10 then its obb ki you want people to come by 11..and if you say 'Don't do it', its implied you mean 'please do it'.And its not just school or college these things happen, its the same in companies and probably anywhere you'll go.These make such trips special and memorable :).
Every trip I have had so far has had its share of glitches and surprisingly thats what I remember most about them.No fight,No fun. It makes me wonder sometime 'who wants a perfect life(trip)'?Lets hope that we dont have a perfect outing tomorrow ;)..

PS:'permission nai hai' wala funda I could see only in school and sometimes in college too ;)...atleast vo ab nai hai :D

and yah I just got this message, and I dont think this is final either :P

Few other reminders:
1. Please carry suitable swim wear if you plan to use the swimming pool.
2. We will pick up "liquor" enroute.
3. Bus will start at 9:00 A.M sharp and will not wait further--->lolest

To be or not to be

I suppose toughest question that a Bitsian face in his college life is whether TO BE OR NOT TO BE in campus in 7th sem..we have a option to do internship either in 7th or 8th sem and placements in the sem we stay in campus..well there are so many factors on which this imperative decision depends..
Its usual trend that people with high CG and preparing for CAT/GRE stay in the campus and others go to get better PS..But whatever any one chose, its never the same..6th sem is the last sem when all batch mates are together..then its time for farewell and say goodbye..
Now its been a month since I am in Bangalore, and some of my friends are doing their internship in Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad,Singapore :P etc etc and others are back to campus..I have been in touch with all of them and no doubt we all miss each other..
For those who in campus laments about college being 'no fun'...no proper internet facilities, and no classes!imagine people crying about not having classes and dying of boredom..its never the same..deserted corridors, locked rooms of friends who left, placement pressure, maybe water and electricity crisis(for BH4 guys :P) and what not..not to forget applying to universities and CAT..
For those who in PS have to change their lifestyle completely..get up early, stay in office for 9 hours..get acquainted with corporate world..maintain all the expenses, ghar-ghrasti and what not..getting adjusted to tiffin food..prepare for CAT/GRE simultaneously with office load..some start blogging and some start reading blogs :P..its always tough to adjust in new city..some have to struggle with coding, some with hardware..
But being human makes us think that the other side is better off..I think its either become a trend or human pysch has mutated to be sorrowful and regretful..Its like either people are not happy or they think they could be happier..we all took decisions after giving it a thought and knew what will be the ramifications..will it make any difference if we keep reminding ourselves that 'had it been that ways'..we should cherish the time we spent together and move on with the memories..there's so much ahead to look forward to..don't have regrets,be cheerful and live life king size..make the best out of the time you have..life is short, make it bigger while you can..
Living the romance which is coming to an end with each passing moment...
when i get sad,i stop being sad and get awesome..true story
Love you guys

Chinkies

chinkies..for those of you who dont know, they are the most fascinating class of the opposite sex(so please exclude the male stewards you find generally everywhere)..the first thing that comes in my mind when I hear this beauitful word is 'WOW'..well the second thing that comes is 'DU'(delhi university) and surprisingly now it has been replaced by 'Bengaluru' :D.. man, never thought i'll find zillions of chinkies down south.. I was apprehensive about the crowd before coming to Bangalore (and as a Bitsian one always fear the dreadful ;)).. but as soon I stepped on this so called 'pub city', it's been a delight to see chinkies all around.. be it '80 feet road' next to my house or forum or brigade road or mg road or any damn place here,it's filled with chinkies..and not just chinkies but 'hot chinkies'(vaise that is obb)..
But as in the usual case with everything these days even chinkies are seen with a note *conditions applied*... mostly they are accompanied with male friends(who are most of the time scary)or they run away as soon as they find any stranger nearby..So mostly they work as visual treat to the human class(by human i mean both sexes, because some of my female friends also like checking out chinkies :P) Still its a treat to watch them..But you all must be wondering why did I bring up chinkies all of a sudden...
So the story goes like this..the second day I came to bangalore,me and my flat mates went to have dinner..as soon as we were out on the main road I saw two chinkies coming straight forward..all of us saw them and obb were mesimerised by one of them..suddenly I realized that she was walking straight towards me..omg,i thought the day has come..me and my friends did not slow down and neither did she..I did not bother to see the other girl with long hair as I aint greedy..one was enough to make my day..she was still coming towards me and I towards her,and it seemed she was drunk, but who cares..now the proximty between us was tending towards zero and 'it' was about to happen and the whole world became still..
just then I heard a male husky voice "come here, dont go there" and " sori, she's drunk"..omfg the other person was a chinka and not a chinki with long hair!!! why the hell they confuse people like us!!!none of us were able to make out that he was a guy until 'he' spoke..and all my hopes gone..after the sudden shock, all of us bursted out of laughter.. it was really a funny incident..and to top it,we continued to fight for next few days, everyone claiming that chinki was coming for 'me'.. But I knew in my heart, she was coming for me..and she would have,if that #!!@#!$ wouldn't have stopped her..

weekdays and weekends

well since 3 years i.e while i was 'studyin' in bits goa, one thing was phenomenal (dre wre many more, but later on them)..weeknds had lost their essence..bcz wtvr day it was,i used to get up late, wtch people cmng back frm clases nd sumtimes cmng bck frm lunch :O ..i thnk i m born in the wrong country, bcz my sleep cycle seems to resemble sum odr country in the west.. n infact dre wre times when i had got up on saturdays(%@# emf class, generaly avn surprised tests) nd used to take the rest of the week off barring few pracs..
but the day i av set foot upon Bangalore, things av changed.. its like office timings r 9.30-6.30 nd hence i av to get up at arnd 8..nd guys, trust me,its too early for me!i dnt know hw av i managed till nw,but this has made me realise the demarcation between weekdayz nd weekends..nw i luk fwd to weekends as soon weekdays start..more the 'friday' is near, more jovial i m..nd monday mornig. dnt even ask!!!!
on weekdays, its like u sleep at 12 or so,get up at 8..go office cm back..call tiffin wala fr dinner and wtch sum tv series,nd sleep again..as soon as it comes thursday, weekend plans seems to blossom.. fri late nite muvi is a ritual now and sat it has to b mochas and dominos..fr late nite partyin u get jst 2 dayz, fri n sat..nd sometimes it stretches over to sunday, and it has long lasting effect on monday :P..
